Let's see how they clean up.

The uppers look to be in good shape and will clean up well. Replacement heels, which is not surprising given their age. Your $10 investment appears to be well worth it.

How'd you tell they're pre 65?

Date code of 'EF' so that is supposedly May of 65, 75, 85 or 95. Hard to tell how much of the soles and heels are original. The 5 nails and welt seem to be original so I'd wager the soles and maybe heel blocks are original but with replaced heel toplifts. The V cleat may or may not be original.

Because the curved footbed, after 1965 the footbed is straight line.

Looks like the original heel block was worn down and a cobbler filled back in with a sliver of leather. Then the Vcleat and another piece of leather were placed on top of that. If the V cleat is original it is in near pristine condition and full thickness.. and yes could've been moved.

I think however in this case these were brand new V cleats when installed by the cobbler. The old ones were probably too far gone, especially if these were 1965 or pre 65.

Nice to know about the curved heel pad piece dating it. Didn't know about that. What it looks like under there:
