One of my downstairs neighbors has been using spraypaint in the building. The whole building now reeks of acetone and aerosol, and because that **** rises and I live on the top floor, I'm literally feeling lightheaded and nauseous as a result. I live in a four story building with three families and two flats full of students, who the **** would think this is a good idea?

I don't think this photo needs to exist. The less I know about its origins the better.

Norovirus and toddlers..

We have been sicker in one year than in the last decade...

The twins tend to bring every possible germ from nursery..

The only positive point to this sorry state of affairs; my wife might lose the half stone she has been talking about for three years.

Windows 8 is just awful.

I want to go back to my laptop that had Word crash at least once a week to keep using XP.

None of the programs I liked to use are compatible, the upgrades are counter intuitive, the layout sucks, why are there ******* APPS AND A GODDAMN APP STORE for my laptop.

What a *************, this will be like Vista or ME .

Ugh. This sucks. We went through it for pretty much the entirety of 2011. LowerCaseG started daycare that January, and it was just one illness after another for the entire family for a year. Prior to having a child in daycare, MrsG and I didn't get sick very often at all. We got a cold every 1-1.5 years or so, and if one of us got sick twice in the same year it was a "bad" year. During '11 there were months where we got sick more than we did in most years. That said, it does get dramatically better once the kids have had a year of being exposed to all the germs. They still get sick pretty frequently, especially with runny noses and such, but it's not nearly as relentless. Plus, you'll get much better at fighting it, so you won't catch nearly as much from them.

Good luck. Norovirus is pure misery. If there really is a Hell, I'm pretty sure it's a perpetual norovirus infection.

The train was short cars and I had to stand and then somebody stepped on my Carminas on the subway. F***ers.

I was wearing a Charvet tie as I stood in line, but the ostentatiousness it suggested was probably balanced out by the Cookie Crisp that I bought. (Cookie Crisp is a cereal, in case some of the Big Tymerz here don't know about such things.)
I've never heard of Cookie Crisp. :turns-up-nose:

That's the kind of person I'd be ok with targeting for a drone strike.

I remember how awful Vista was, so this report about W8 is not good to hear.

I used Win 8 for a few months, ended up reinstalling 7. It wasn't thoroughly awful, I can't recall what exactly prompted me to return to 7, but here we are.

I don't recall liking the Metro interface or the app store, or the global windows / cloud prompting.

I just spent 40 minutes in line at the supermarket. (No, I am not exaggerating for effect.) There was a family ahead of me who had a ton of WIC coupons, and the cashiers couldn't figure out how to process them. No one involved seemed the slightest bit embarrassed by this. When the WIC transaction was finally completed, the cashier said "Sorry for the wait" in the most perfunctory way it could possibly be said.

What is this WIC coupon thing?

WIC stands for Women, Infants and Children. It is a government program for low-income families to provide financial assistance to purchase certain kinds of food. (It is other things too, but that's the relevant part.)

Just to be clear, I don't look down my nose at anyone who needs financial assistance. My family received it for a while when I was a kid. I only mentioned that because the cashiers couldn't figure out how to process the coupons.

There is one of these WIC things close to where I live. I never understood what it was. Thanks. Also, Harvey Birdman informed me what an "EBT" card was. Never heard of it and now I see it advertised all over the city. Baader-Meinhof again! GRID must be getting bad.
