Who hasn't mimicked certain color combos that they found appealing on someone else? I had a pair of white jeans, I saw that picture, and I figured the shirt would go great with them. And it's not like jcrew invented the sleeve roll.

WAYWT has been somewhat garbage the past 10+ pages so I decided to buy some Diors to try to remedy the situation.

That face is looking at you Jet.

+1. Especially if you're new, I don't see anything wrong with it -- the lookbook shots are pretty well done. It's more stylish than AA+NS+Converse, and people don't have any problems recommending that as a starting point.

The only issue I had with JackM's fit was vvv

You won't get the same level of bass or soundstage in a pair of buds as in a set of cans. The HD 25-1's are great because they incorporate the nice aspects of a full-sized can (such as bass and soundstage) within a smaller frame that's reasonably portable and capable of decent volumes with a portable DAP, with amp being optional for those who like it loud/want extra clarity.

That said there are some very high end earbuds that probably do come close in some respects and even exceed the HD25-1's in others (such as clarity and obviously isolation), but the importance of these factors is up to the listener.

Jil face shirt doesn't look as ridiculous when worn than I had imagined. Nicely done. I feel the diors could use a hem though, the stacks are a bit much. (coming from someone who never hems his jeans)

Exactly. I see absolutely nothing wrong with doing this. Who doesn't get ideas from other places?

There's a difference between getting ideas and just straight copying. Though I guess if you took a full fit out of a runway show and reproduced it I wouldn't find that reprehensible. It's not like it's some major sin but you can see where people are coming from in terms of having a catalogue dress you.

@Xenox @Superbobo: Thanks!
@Norcal: Haha - I haven't gotten into a fight since middle school (which I lost). I wonder how I'd fare nowadays. Probably not too well.

Yes, they come from a very pretentious place. Everyone dresses like something or someone else at some point in their sartorial leaning curve.

Can you guys get back to critiquing fits on their own merits? I actually learn something from those. If not, can I vote to bring back Otter? At least his bitchiness was occasionally funny.

Way to skip the part of my post where I pointed out that there is a difference between getting ideas from something and straight up copying it, then acting as if the two are the same thing.

That J. Crew fit would have been better if it was actually a straight copy. Missed some of the cues that made the lookbook version better. Brown shoes, off-white jeans instead of real white, the 'effortless' roll of the pants hitting right above the ankle, shirt cuff peeking out of the sleeve roll.

There is no value to originality when you are getting up and dressing in the morning. None. Dressing originally does not make you a better person. Your friends will not comment on how much cooler you are. The cute girl at the coffee shop will not suddenly put out in ways that make you understand what you've missing for most of your life. Your boss will not decide you need a raise immediately. Looking nice can actually make some of the above happen, but doing it originally adds zero to the social impact of clothing.

In fact, if pressed, I reckon you'd be unable to explain why originality is such an important quality without resorting to either soppy vagueness, Romantic cliche, appeal to a non-existent form of authenticity, or a fuzzy-headed combination of all three.

This is exactly the kind of discussion that makes me wish everyone posting pics in here posted in the pictures only thread.
