I have two LP12s, one is a Basik set up with a Hercules board waiting. The other is my 'project' that I've been ignoring for years with a Ekos arm, Lingo PS etc.

Almost silent. And, in the same room. Exceptional, really.

I am curious if you hear any extra detail compare to regular tables or is it just a noise floor and exotic factor.

It'll be well documented in the review, coming soon.

My comment was in answer to your piss take. :)

What is interesting about $35 cutting board from Walmart and entry-level Rega tonearm attached to it?

It looks lovely, have to say.

I did eventually get a turntable, though a few months ago, when I could not splurge even a little, so it is just one of the automatic Technics quartz direct models that I picked up for $40. When I got it the platter rubbed on the table, and it took me quite a bit of time to decide to rip it open and "modify" the spindle support bushing to hold the spindle another thirty thousandths higher. Success though! It is feeding an Onkyo Integra A-8087 integrated amp and some JBL L15 bookshelfs. Ridiculously modest here, I know, but a vast, vast, vast improvement over my gf's 'all-in-one' Panasonic.

Just got a Uturn - surprisingly good for the money. It isn't at the same level as a Well Tempered or whatever, but I would say it is at least on par with other entry level stuff at a much better price.

Suggestions for a phono preamp for a basic tube amp and Rega TT.

A couple forums rave about the Cambridge 551P, but like most forums there appears to be group think. At $140 it seems to be a good value. Do I really need to spend $400 at this stage? I'm just getting back into the vinyl.

Just hunt audiogon for something in a price range you are comfortable with. Honestly if you are just getting back into it, I wouldn't agonize over this too much. Or get an ART DJ PRE II for $50 and just replace it when you decide you are serious.

Thanks for the tip about audiogon. Cool website.

Just picked up a pile of 50's and early 60's vinyl jazz recordings tonight from a CL ad. Trios and quartets.

I recently bought a Rega P3 and am in the process of diving into the world of vinyl, does anyone have a recommended forum for discussing building out a new system?

I need a preamp and cartridge. I was set on a Denon 110 but read that a Dynavector 10x5 is the way to go for the P3 series if anyone has any thoughts.

Bought the Rega RP1 and the basic Cambridge phono preamp. I went through Needledoctor.com so I saved tax and no shipping charges. I considered others but the review in Stereophile was convincing as well as knowing that when I want to upgrade I can sell it for a pretty high price on Craig's List here in the SF Bay Area. Good used turntables sell fast.

Looking forward to Friday when it arrives to fire it up and enjoy the vintage jazz LP's I've been picking up the last couple of weeks. It is nice to have some good vinyl all ready to enjoy when the TT arrives.

I will connect it to some 90's B&W Mini pods and a Jolida tube amp.

Really enjoying my Rega, Jolida, B&W system. Been scoring a lot of wonderful classic 50's and very early60's jazz albums - Les McCann, Wes Montgomery, Bill Evans, Sonny Rollins, Jimmy Smith, etc. as well as early blues and some rock.
