The Shell Cordovan, non-Alden Shoe and Boot Thread

Anyone here own cordovan shoes or boots from suit supply? I ordered their wingtip boots and they fit me well. The quality seems ok. Buy I'm really not sure if they are worth 650. For that I can spend a little more and get an alden or spend a few hundred more and get a C & J. Please let me know your thoughts. Here are some phone pics:

cordovan can mean anything. are they horse or shell cordovan? or cordovan colored cow leather

from the close-ups on their site i see a lot of "grain" and texture atypical for shell cordovan which atleast from pictures is supposed to look as glossy smooth as possible

This is from the page you linked to:

So clearly they are saying that these are shell cordovan. I see what you mean about their photos not necessarily looking like shell (maybe there weren't careful about dust being on the boots when they took the photos?), but the pair that they sent me definitely seem like shell. They are glossy and they are not creasing. As a matter of fact I tried on that boot that I posted earlier and I flexed somewhat, and there is definitely no calf-type creasing. So unless they are plastic or some other synthetic material, these have to be shell.

Without seeing any rolls or creasing yet. The uppers near the ankle do look like they are forming shell rolls.

I would ask them who makes them, or at least what country they are from. Surely they don't make their own

Took delivery of my Carmina x GYW PTBs in Cognac shell today. Gorgeous shoes! Fit is ok. Color looks very close to undyed color 8.
