RIP Thomas Pink - one of the first brands I remember finding at a thrift store some 15 years ago and sparking my interest

Same. When I first started thrifting with my Dad, we were just getting nice ties/shirts/suits/etc for ourselves. I remember seeing 4 or 5 Thomas Pink shirts at a Goodwill for like $6 each and my Dad was all "Ohh those are expensive.. made in England." (this was back when they still made their shirts in UK)

I remember going home and looking Pink shirts up on ebay and seeing sold listings for the same shirts, used, for $35-50. I went back to that store and they were gone. That was the first spark that told me there was something to this "selling thrifted clothes" thing... Here I am 10 years later.

Before the snowstorm hit here on Saturday was able to snag a few things (hickey tie, lulu polo, melanzana crewneck, bb shell belt). First pop on shell, a belt but still a nice addition and in my size.

I was getting fed up at the last store due to some people with multiple carts taking up the entire aisles of the men’s section and I had to go to the bathroom (restrooms weren’t open). So was getting ready to walk to a nearby grocery store and saw a shiny belt with a distinct roll to it on my way out. Just a quick story to never discount looking everywhere in a store.

We've been locked down in Ontario for a bit, and the thrift store game is dead and buried. Not a lot going on out there, but if you work twice as hard as before, you can still find 1/10 the stuff. Being forced to learn about new segments of the market hasn't been a bad experience, though.

Found the good-enough match for the Sonneman-style lamp on the left. Will grab matching bulbs for it.

Need a bigger house for this. Wouldn't fit in the living room.

Someone out there collects cookware and will want this giant frying pan

after 4 years of hoping to find a truly high end 36S suit at a thrift, i finally relented and bought a recent Canali 1934 Exclusive navy pinstripe Super 160 suit with working cuffs on poshmark. it fits like it's MTM (my potato pics suck, you'll just have to trust me). i did notice a minor flaw at the bottom fold of the vent. i tried to guilt the guy into throwing the some money back, he didn't bite. and i didn't push the issue, as I got him to lower the price from $219 to $119 and he sent it priority 2 day. Ya'll think I should ask for something back or just move on? I'll probably get it reweaved to be on the safe side.

and then, i found this 1960s Design Circle for John Collier Harris tweed. first tweed genuinely in my short ass size.

So I was able to buy a pair of vintage Cartier sunglasses for slightly above thrift cost but I noticed there was repair and welding done to the frame. I passed because of this and am wondering if I made a mistake? These were the vintage aviators from “A view to kill”.

Pretty slow lately... The GWs have been dry to the bone. Here's a few things from other venues.

These were free at a local church thrift, who were giving away winter clothing. I felt bad, and offered money, but they were not set up to actually accept donations. Pretty beat up, but hey, free boots.

Always a weird feeling when you start cracking into backlog. It's like finding it all over again.
