The Reagan Bush 84 thing is not Ironic. Unless you mean something other than Irony?

Sorry, I'm not trying to be dense here, but I assumed it was a hipster thing -- basically, the cognoscenti trying to detourn the iconography of a blatant evil. Not frat bros engaging in a kind of un-ironic, rah-rah I'm rich, *****!, **** culture bro fist! Surely that can't be right?*

but there was another user named noob (and now we have noob in 89)...

Still me, bro...I've just traveled to 1989. Had to alter my handle to explain various sartorial decisions :teach:

*Note I was in a fraternity in Austin, and I wasn't bad, and realize not all bros are bad.

I used to play semi-pro poker, and my style was very reckless, and I would call down everyone to the river, even with ridiculous cards - but I had strategy and odds down pat, so I won lots of times. Everyone else played by the books, but I played with my gut. I played with my high school buddies, and we used to joke-insult each other with racial epithets all the time. It was all out of love as we were all like brothers for so long. Being Puerto Rican and Jewish (INORITE, me and Geraldo Rivera), they put together **** and Jew and came up with spoo. They dubbed it "Spoo-poker" every time I won a hand I "shouldn't" have. I had 3-8 off suit, flopped 4-5-7, and called raised against pocket aces, and found that 6 on the river and scooped the pot, they would say "theres that ******* spoo poker again, I need to learn that ****".

good times.

Okay, could use some input on a today's haul. Some of it could be really nice or complete crap, still not sure my thrifting sense is fully calibrated.

Item 1: Christian Brooks tweed blazer, ~40L

Item 2: Strathmore by Anderson Little blazer, ~38R

Item 3: Missoni suit coat. Tag said it was a 2-piece but the pants had disappeared, sadly.

Item 4: Brooks Brothers Golden Fleece blazer, BUT slight ripping along the arms

Item 5: NWT J Ferrer suit coat, originally $325, BUT small wear spot on the front I only saw when I got home

This one I know is nicer: Hickey-Freeman blazer

Florsheim single-monk strap BUT interior doesn't look as nice

Florsheim double-monks BUT the strap connectors seem frayed

I don't think that darker spot is a permanent stain, just dirt

Finally, PRL lambswool sweater, super soft

So, which of these are worth having copped? They were like $5 each so no biggie if it's junk, just trying to calibrate.

Same here. You probably need to be a bit more conscious of suit orphans.

Fair enough, no real loss. A few of the items fit me so I might try them out. This town also has very slim pickings, so I get over-excited when I see something anything remotely grab-able.

It's all coolio, you should spend some time going back and reading through this thread from the beginning. It's a pretty good way to learn labels and what to pick up, plus you get to know us a bit better.

obviously for personal use anything goes, really.

but for market value/desirability, i would've passed on everything without a second thought.

the real question is: what didn't you see or what did you pass on that would've been worthwhile?

I like the first pair of Florsheim monk straps, what kind of hide are they?
