On pairing shirts with patterned overshirts, solids are a solid (no pun intended) strategy.

But don’t be afraid to experiment. I've had some success applying menswear strategies for pairing patterned dress shirts with patterned odd jackets.

For example, try a shirt with a different pattern size or geometry than your overshirt/jacket, and go with a primary color that pairs with your pants, accent color in the overshirt/jacket, or other piece of clothing (scarf, hat, etc.).

Here’s an example I think works OK using those strategies. The jacquard jacket is busy and unsymmetrical while the shirt has big symmetrical geometry for contrast.

The indigo base of the shirt pairs with the jeans (instead of the jacket) while the pale yellow hints at the gold accents in the jacket.

These aren’t hard and fast rules but can be a springboard to experimenting.

Separately, I like the shirt and over-shirt. But, together, it is too much patterning for my tastes.

Not sure about all of y'all, but working remote I'll honestly wear at least 5 outfits during my work day haha (here's your sign you have too many clothes.) Anyway I do NOT condone this fit for anything at all but it's a jacket I haven't got to wear yet so I'm breaking it in. Pants are the only item in the picture that are RRL (slippers are so comfortable)

It's leather jacket season. The majority of my leather jackets are RRL and are extremely comfortable, aka no break in. I have one from IH that is really nice however it's not even close to RRL in the comfort department. My question is, am I spoiled by RRL already breaking their stuff in? Is there another brand of leather jackets that runs a bit more comfortable? I'm strictly looking for fashion over function as I don't ride a motorcycle

What are you looking for? I have a Valstar Clint from NMWA and it is super comfortable.

Let's just get this out of the way. I absolutely do not NEED another leather jacket haha. But I'm always looking. I guess it's more which brands don't require a lot of break in, leather not as stiff to start out, that type of situation.

For instance, I'm currently wearing the IH because I know the more I wear it the better it'll be. I've never felt that way with RRL as it's always broken in and comfortable

The Clint is a suede (cow) western-ish type jacket that is comfortable from day one. It's lined with a soft corduroy, which makes it even better
