They aren't AFAIK, Layer-O, for example, is quite well built and he also makes the Avantindietro shoes which aren't bad either. OC doesn't seem to be very solid from the feedback I got (don't take my word for it though). Honestly its very hard to asses construction of shoes from pictures because even an apparent stitching might be purely decorative...

^^ +1 I've heard many postive review's of Alessio's (Layer-0) work and the Avantindietro_Field boots/shoes are solid.

Those Carpes look really good. I usually avoid zip boots because the shafts look ridiculous on my tiny legs, but those might actually work.

Carpes have pretty narrow shafts (side and back zips) and super-ridicously low insteps.

Heres what Im rocking recentlyI love these, but they're taking forever to break in. Heavy reverse calf. These are my snowboots.

I don't like these, uncomfortable and fragile, but the mismatched scarred leather is awesome.
