^ I really don't get why people like Paris Hilton sport LV bags. Kanye I understand because he has a loyal fan base who dig the brand-whoring so it's ironically in his best interest to be tasteless. But people like Paris whose job it is essentially to be fashionable, you would think she wouldn't be caught dead with the same bag all her girlfriends have. I assume LV must pay her to take these photos?

Just read the article. I love Dana. While she's clearly incorrect about the following:

The logo is as recognisable as the golden arches. "It really is. I would certainly put it in the top 10, along with Nike, Coca-Cola."

That is, there is no way it's as recognized as the logo of Target, UPS, Sony, Shell, Mercedes, etc. and it shouldn't expect to be. For example, neither of my parents recognize it. However, I was curious so I looked up the top 50 most recognized logos and it's definitely up there, sharing the the list with only one other luxury brand: Rolex. Three others when you include Ferrari and Lamborghini. List of dubious accuracy, however I checked a Top 20 list that looked much more accurate and it didn't make the cut there either, for whatever that's worth.

Here's a link to Dana's Google talk

IMHO, LV is like the women's Rolex: a symbol of status rather than of style.

"this ain't when i used to live in my truck..trucks live with me now..look at my house..they hang out around my place..."

I find Pocketcircle's comments somewhat interesting in that they are probably endemic of the sort of institutionalized prejudices that are so hard to shake.
