How's the fit? Did you take the same size as your 5-last?

Went up a half size (from 9d on 5-last) to 9.5d. I have a pair of shell Leeds in a 9d that are a little tight in the toe box, so wanted to go up for some extra room (tried on a 9e, which was way too wide). They're a little looser than what I'm used to, but no heel slip and I definitely prefer the fit to my Leeds.

 @csmitty
:  I got my invoice on the Bayfields today from Allison.  They're finally making it our way!  No word yet on the Townleys.

I might just give up hope....however if you get tired of this Daltons let me know. A bit of regret.

So there have been - what - maybe two reports of Merlot EC's getting shipped? Meanwhile, plenty of the other makeups have arrived.

I certainly don't begrudge anyone their quick 2-3 week turnaround on these great looking Bayfields or other folks who have received 2 or 3 of their MTO's already. Meanwhile, I'm five weeks in and counting since my order confirmation was sent to me.

Got the Townley's and they look great. Does the shell seem thin to anyone else? Just curious. IMHO after receiving them the 511 last shape when on my foot seems a bit odd...sort of really wide then comes to a more drastic toe. This is probably more of a product of my foot being wide at the pinky toe then cutting in - makes the toe cap seem like it should be bigger. On the leeds this is not an issue as there is no captoe.

Again these are issues with my feet more than the shoe...that being said the fit is stellar..no heel slippage at all with thin or medium socks. I plan to really wear these shoes as much as I can and eventually get them re-soled with double sole, midsole/dainite, or double with mini tap lug. For my foot they are too substantial of a shoe for a single sole. Sort of like a Cadillac on donut tires.

All of that being said they really are great and glad I got in on the build...no stitching flaws, great build. Going to brush then post some pictures. Thanks for talking me into this shoe guys going to get tons of use.

Mine can use a rub down but I chose to just brush it and the shoes shined right up...I think I am going to leave what is on there for some protection and just mac method them when worn. It seems like a different gunk then what they put on shell seconds to hide imperfections. almost seems like there is some applied shine agent under the gunk....I like the color.

I hate to report that I adore them. However, this is a great opportunity to acquire natural shell Daltons (Soliel calls this color walnut shell!) or "cigar" Daltons. I'm gonna do both new colors in Dundees.

You'll get your ~$640 invoice from Allison soon enough - hang in there.

I'm also waiting on my Merlots.

I also regret not ordering a brown grain EC...I wonder if there are 11 others with similar regrets lol

There's one right here. ;)
