Tailors in Dubai

In the very near future I am going to live in Dubai for work for the next couple of years. I also have to build up a professional wardrobe from scratch.

I've been to Dubai several times and though there are enough brand name shops, there aren't any brands that have great appeal to me. It's almost impossible to get something from Borrelli, Finamore, Barba. It's all Canali, Boss, Pal Zileri and Corneliani or even Ralph Lauren.

That's why I am wondering if there are any good tailors in Dubai. The ones i've encountered only make fused suits and can deliver in about 2 days. Not my cup of tea.

Is it because nobody's familiar with Dubai, or because the tailors there are just that bad?

RLPL might not be a bad start. Sure, it's not Kiton, but still better than Boss or Pal Zileri.

RLPL might not be a bad start. Sure, it's not Kiton, but still better than Boss or Pal Zileri. Jon.
The thing is, they have Ralph Lauren, but not much of the Purple Label. Just a few RTW shirts. Canali and Corneliani are not bad, but their cut isn't for me unfortunately. Especially since Canali doesn't have a MTM programme.

I don't know. but if you want to pop over to mubai Ican recomend a very good one, and it really isn't that far.

what I would suggest is asking at an expat club, if you join one.

But, really, I actually prefer RLPL to Kiton nine times out of ten. And... an expat club seems like a good idea.

My statement was based on the fact that not all RLPL jackets are of the same quality, the linen items are not made in the same vain of quality as the cashmere jackets (but still excellent quality for $1000 retail). Cut is not quality however, and yes, if RLPL fits you much better than Kiton, then by all means purchase RLPL. Jon.

Just giving you a difficult time, Jon, as I thought you were one of RLPL's great proponents on the board. BTW, where do you find RLPL linen or cashmere jackets for $1000? In NYC, either would be at minimum three times that. (I don't mean to get back in to that discussion of different quality sub-lines in RLPL, et cetera.)

Exactly, but I think there are a lot of good tailors for their national dress. But not really for the workhorse foreigners such as myself. They do have outrageously expensive stores btw. www.parmartailors.com for instance. But i'll doublecheck on RLPL, maybe they offer MTM. And I somebody mentioned Mumbai, India. That's only 2 or 3 hours away isn't it?
