I think as the pictures for the meetup make their way out of the woodwork I will retain my title as king of uncomfortable smiles...

I forgot to mention that this meetup featured my first in-the-cloth encounter with Steed tailoring. Very nice...

All these fantastic San Francisco SF meetups....jealousy.

If we ever had a SF meetup in Michigan, it would look like this:

Rather than sipping champagne at the Ghurka store, we'd be drinking some beer, probably from some Grand Rapids brewery, in the Stormy Kromer factory in the U.P.

Does anyone know what the cheese with the Indian spice was? That was delicious.

I can't recall its name in English, but in Nepali it is "Yochpooy". It is reputed to be a key condiment in the Ghurka regimental Mess, and contributory to their legendary ferocity in battle. God Save the Queen.

Thanks again Gus for a great Meet-Up. And special thanks for Kim Roberts and his team for hosting
at the very elegant Ghurka store. I am flattered that Kim recognized me after these many years, as I was
a customer of the late and lamented Swaine & Adney in San Francisco , where Kim was a key player.
I still have several treasured items from that store that await my decision on liposuction.

If you Google images of "Ghurka SF" a lot of pics from the event appear. What a handsome looking group :)

I also saw that Mark's Steed suit made it onto Steeds blog and Twitter feed. Great looking. I especially like the color and vest details. No one makes vests like the Brits, especially Savile Row.

At the start of the event, I saw this well-dressed man. I loved the simplicity of his outfit and asked if I could take his photo.
Afterwards, he told me that he was visiting from Japan and that he had stumbled upon the meetup on accident. He seemed a little embarrassed that he was dressed more casually than everyone else and even showed me a photo on his phone of himself wearing a fantastic suit earlier that day.
I told him that he was the best dressed man here and he smiled, bowed, and thanked me.

Why is Ian looking so dreamy-eyed? Wishing for the No.2 Express Bag in pebble grain leather?
actually people kept taking photos of me before I had time to fix my bouffant hair and finish chewing my food. the look in my eye says "why are you keeping me away from the fantastic cheese"
I told henry that I vow to look less homeless for the next meetup, I might even were one of my 3 grenadine ties
