Today I ended a 5+ year relationship and feel slightly numb/excited to conquer the world.

Without getting to much into what I would like to do with my life, I would like to ask the forum where to move. I have been in FL for 5 years now and am convinced that your surroundings either contribute to your life or subtly creep into it, rotting everything from the inside out.

To the main point, where is the best place to live (in the U.S.)? I have friends all over, but I would prefer the advice of well-dress strangers who like their jungle and have reasons to prove it.

Purposely open-ended. The best answer will be rewarded.

Thank you,

:slayer:

I really like San Diego.... I don't live there but have been many times.... warm, sunny, laid-back... that's just me & my 2 cents.

Have you thought about another country? If you are flexible, is this the time to move to Paris, London, Oslo?

I knew a few guys who in their late 20's early 30's did just that. Although they are back in the USA now they are sure glad they gave it a try.

San Diego would be great for a guy who just got out of a long relationship. SD is awesome for nightlife, women, weather and food. Though SD is by no means SF approved, it's easy to differentiate yourself from the crowd. The other drawback would be putting up with Charger fans until the team eventually crashes and burns. Fortunately that's already happened this year.

Other than San Diego I would suggest:

Charlotte, Asheville, or Raleigh, NC
Nashville, TN
Savannah, GA
New Orleans, LA
Phoenix, Scottsdale, AZ
Santa Barbara, CA
You may also consider LA or Vegas, but they should be considered carefully.
