Black suit jackets can look fine as blazers. Swapping the buttons will help.

Would all those 3 blazers look good with blue jeans?

Would the J Crew midnight blazer where i posted the link have the buttons already needed since its called a blazer or do i have to swap buttons for that one too?

I'm almost 21. I just bought the j crew blazer online. I bought probably 2 blazers already but they were bought at the wrong size or were suit jackets. I ripped the tags off each time so I lost like 500 dollars already.

I am slow in fashion. Mainly b/c I live in a ghetto neighborhood and wore a lot of those baggy jeans / t shirts till i stopped a few years ago. I thought dressing that way WAS cool.

Okay. So, here's what I think -- you should be getting something with a little bit more texture, a little bit more unstructured, and a little bit less "sportcoaty." That's why I like the cotton pieces from J. Crew and Polo, as well as the silk/cotton piece from J. Crew. They feel and look younger to me. Unlike some people around here, I don't mind the blue blazer with jeans look. It can look great. But I don't think it's a great look for a college student. But that's just my opinion. That cotton custom fit blazer from Polo is perfect for college. You could wear it as outwear, or wear it to a party as a blazer. It's got enough of an edge to it that you won't be seen as the preppy kid with the blazer, and the fabric pairs well with jeans.

Which J. Crew coat did you order?

i ordered the 2 button legacy blazer for 298 that is only available online. Got it in 38R Midnight. Costs me about 345 in total with shipping and tax.

Also are you sure that j crew blazer doesnt look right on a college student? I mean the model wearing the blazer is I am guessin between 26-35 and he looks good wearing it with the jeans.

When you're 26, tell me how much different you feel from when you were 21.

Anyways, I'm not saying that it will look "bad" on a college student. Rather, I think that the cotton pieces and/or the more textured pieces will look better, and they will be more versatile for the college lifestyle.

BTW, please don't rip of the tags on the legacy blazer until you are absolutely sure you want it.

Yes, I know that for sure. The last time i even bought an Express suit jacket and thought it was a blazer and good thing i didn't rip the tags off. Thanks for the help.
