Hi, SF members,

I want to have one jacket made. I am choosing from these two fabrics:
Solid navy twill, 100% cashmere
Navy blue two-tone pattern, 50% cashmere 50% silk

Can you please let me know what do you think of these two?

Thanks!

Does anyone know the official name of the cashmere silk fabric pattern? Large Birdseye?

I like the twill as I don't like many blue tweeds. The unfunded liabilities thread has the most traffic for discussing fabrics

Both fabrics are nice. No one can recommend a fabric unless you give more details about how the jacket will be used. The solid is a safer bet, but the birdseye is beautiful.

I agree...I'd say if you don't already have a navy blazer, go with #1. Otherwise go with #2.

Thanks for your replies.
I am a little bit hesitate because I feel the twill will look like a suit jacket.
I have solid navy blazer but not a cashmere one.

Get some details on the solid jacket that will distinguish it as a sport coat. 3/2 roll, patch pockets, wider lapels, horn buttons, etc.

Thanks. I will go for the birdeye, 3/2 roll, flap pockets.[/quote]

Bravo! Of late there's been a plague of Patch Pockets.
