I’m glad to see this much interest in the fur lined version.

To answer BakedPotatoe's question: I'm 98% certain it's sheep lining but I have not received verification from Carmina yet. It's a natural fiber though, not synthetic.

And yes, the whole vamp and shaft is lined.

It seems like it will be a brown grain version we’re aiming for, the rest of the specs completely the same? Please e-mail [email protected] to put on the "interest list" for this model. No deposit invoices will go out until we have decided the shade of grain.

To summarize this new GMTO project:
  • Carmina model 80179 Derby boot
  • Color: brown grain (exact shade to be decided)
  • Double Commando sole with storm welt
  • Soller last
  • Fur lined
  • Visible eyelets and speed hooks
  • Prize: 3040 SEK ex VAT (approx. $450) - 50% deposit required
  • Shipping: 300 SEK worldwide (approx. $45)
  • Delivery expected : mid-March

Types of grain

Either the lighter "Camel grain" finished to a darker hue, like our Grain Jumpers:

Or the "normal" dark brown grain:

There is also a rougher grain called "karrengrain" that is available in dark brown:

Voting for Camel grain.

Mid-march is disgusting, 3 month? even bespoke from Maftei will be ready in 8 weeks.

Anyway, I'm in for the normal dark brown. Should I already send email or let's wait for the consensus?

Leaves said to send him an email indicating the interests so I guess I will do that. Judging from responses received so far we are going with normal dark brown.

Leaves,

Can you offer some sizing guidelines on Soller last?
Does Carmina have a full rubber commando sole or just that leather + rubber combination?

Baked Potato,
Maybe Leaves or Gabriel can answer that question but I think the time frame is 12-16 weeks.
Yes, delivery time is about 12 weeks when the ordered is placed and sent to Carmina

Soller is a wide fitting last with a rounded toe. It has a quite high instep and fits similar to Rain, which also is a wide fitting last from Carmina. I would go for the same size in Soller as in Rain.

Should we ask for our normal UK size or we should size up for the fur?
I would go for your normal size since Carmina compensate with the fur lining and the fit is similar to the size you normally wear.

My understanding is that soller is wide-fitting, but rain is not wide-fitting. Rain is a medium-fitting last (akin to a "D" width in US sizing). That is why, it is my understanding, that Carmina offers a "wide" fitting in the rain last in addition to the usual, normal fitting of the rain last.

I mention this here because I am considering joining this MTO if it is in camel grain. But if I am wrong about soller being materially wider than the rain last and, in fact, the two lasts are similar widths, then I am out: in that case, soller will be too narrow for me.

Just received mine...very nice.:slayer: I can confirm my Rain size worked fine. Maybe a bit snug out of the box with a medium/thin sock, but will be perfect with a little wear.

Hi,
I tried the boot on in the store today. Also I can confirm that my normal Rain size fit me well in the boot.
A very nice boot, even though it is too light in color for my taste in a real winter boot.
I would have bought it if it were in a darker color, but I'll pass on the MTO due to delivery in March.
