Two I like:
Clarke & Dawe, Belfast, UK
This is a two man band, or strictly speaking one man, one woman. Both are very knowledgeable and friendly. I usually stay for quite a chat and a cup of tea whenever I visit, regardless of what I am looking at or buying. They help in whatever way is needed, from advice on styles, materials, colours and designs, and will offer advice on other establishments if they are unable to fulfill your needs (which is rare) They take a real interest in their customers, and I am greeted by name on every visit. All purchases are kept on record so it is easy to find out if that new tie you have just spotted will coordinate with that pair of moleskins bought last year. Attention to detail is their watchword. Trouser lengths are sorted out for you (all are taped) and the items will arrive by post in 2 days if you do not wish to collect, all at no extra cost. This is a real gem of a shop, and an absolute must for members when in Belfast.
Coleman & Sons, Leicester, UK
Barry Coleman, and his 2ic Paul, are both Savile Row trained tailors, with Paul now the head cutter. The shop itself sells the usual gentleman's clothing items and brands but it is the tailoring aspect that makes the place. They offer a full bespoke service, but will also carry out any alterations you require. I have had major surgery done to a suit I got in Bertie Wooster's for example, and not only did they not mind working on another tailors suit but they positively welcomed the chance to see what they could achieve for me. Again, I get greeted by name when I visit. Very helpful and friendly, when I have some money free I shall have a bespoke suit made for me there.
