Hi, I am looking to buy a cashmere scarf and want some recommendations. I am considering Burberry but kind of want to stay away from the cliche and the nouveau riche look. I do however want to stay in top quality labels. What would you recommend. Thanks

No, don't go Burberry. I am sure many people who agree that it is overplayed and overpriced.

Look at Alex Beggs of Scotland. There was a sale on those cashmere scarves recently.

Thanks, although I am looking for something with a lot of greys and blacks so if I do get Burberry it won't be the typical tan colour. I am also looking for a brand I can pick up in a department store. In Canada we have Holt Renfrew, which most closely resembles Saks Fith Avenue.

Check out the website for "Johnstons of Eglin." As I mentioned in another post I have one of their scarves that was given to my Dad at least 25 years ago and it's still going strong. It is a venerable brand. (And yes, I did rag on you a little for the BC thread--16 year-old craving high-end cashmere!)

I recommend fourinhand.com. The proprietor is a longtime member here and very customer focused.
