Hi boys and girls, forgive me but I stayed so much off this forum that I forgot both my password and the password to my old email account lol! All work and no play.. Anyway I was going to ask some of our grand-courtier members a question on Dormeuil. I was shopping down-town in eastern Tokyo yesterday at one of my favorite old cloth boutiques dealing exclusively in French and Italian fabrics. I was looking for some extra light worsted for the summer since I am a trader and it gets very hot on the floor with the many screens and servers. Anyway I was looking through some of his old stock (yes I am of the old misconception that the older the cloth is, the better it will fit lol) and along with a very nice stripped-navy Tropical Amadeus, I found 6.8 metres of this 240gr summer fabric called 'Global Comfort'. It was very breezy and felt very elusive to the touch -just like a silk mixture would feel (like a Summer Amadeus) but I have never heard of the variety. In the end I got both those fabrics with an excellent deal on the second, under 100 dollars/metre! But when I came back I couldnt locate the code for "Global Comfort" nor find any reference to it on the Dormeuil catalogue. By the feel of it, it has been made to withstand severe travel hardships (like their Voyage or Microfibre lines) and I am pretty sure it is an older eddition of those two aimed at touring professionals. Just wondering how old it is. Any of the grand-courtiers here have an old catalogue of Dormeuil?? I mean before they bought that English woolmill and everything? Any help would be much appreciated since I am getting very curious and would love to find this fabric again somewhere.. Edit:: Apparently the only viable site that makes a reference to it is Austin Reed page on Dormeuil here Edit2:: Accordingly to an anonymous PM (lol) the material was last included in the 2002 Summer Collection and was quite a success back in the days of the DotCom bubble! Kudos for the info bro, this site really has a lot of fashion specialists.
