Do you mean that with reference to specific types of jabs, like the mother thing, or just with ball-busting in general?

yeah, this one guy, "dad", always used to rag on me about how he'd had *********** mom. It was hilarious.

Football. Can't be that it's an action sport. The only "action" that takes place lasts about 4 seconds. the rest of the time is spent watching big fat lardasses haul themselves off the ground and lumber over to another long huddle. For that matter, baseball is perhaps the best cure for insomnia known to science. However, basketball is great. Fast paced (used to be faster paced and higher scoring) and full of great athletic feats/moves/passes (at least when Magic reigned).

Both. I read an interview with an actor from Entourage who said that the ball busting that occurs on the show "is how guys show their love for one another." That's not my general mode of interaction with my guy friends.

It's not exactly non-stop with my guy friends or anything, but what's a male friendship without a little ball-busting once in a while?

I don't get pretty much all the stuff that's been posted in the man thread (cars, BBQs, videogames, power tools, etc), most of the people into those things show their appreciation in such a caricatural way they're like drag queens trying to pose as men, so affraid they don't have a penis they have to remind everyone that they do very loudly and frequently. I like scotch though, and I don't really hang out with people who do, so its definitely about personal taste, I mean if I loved Mojitos I'd drink them all the time and that's a girly drink, right?

Homophobia, and specifically it's manifestation in being afraid to appreciate anything of aesthetic value beyond a pickup truck. ("What, you thought for three seconds about what you're wearing? Gay!"

Pickup trucks or SUVs, when there's little functional reason for owning one

Fishing (even though I'm going in about 30 minutes)

The badge of honor some carry for liking "normal beer", i.e. Budweiser, Coors Light, etc.

I love cars, but for reasons like getting a rush from driving and ****. I also like to tune cars. Although Manly Men dont think my cars are cars because they are "Rice Burners" and yet I hate doing ricy stuff to cars. I wouldnt ever think of putting a monstrous wing or anything on my car, ever, unless its functional.

I don't get really following sports - I have learned to enjoy watching a game, it can be a lot of fun, but I don't get the whole thing of knowing a lot of stats and really folowing the game.

games - guys who dress up and play pain ball, reenact the civil war, dress up for renasance fairs, etc, I don't get that.

Oh those, especially paintball are particularly effective symbolic arenas where individuals can live their aggression and death pulsions in a safe and controlled way.

I've never done this personally, but I definitely "get it" from afar. Seems pretty fuckin awesome to me actually.

+1. It's even worse in high school, trust me.

"You like going to Nordstrom? Gay." was probably the most blatant one I've heard said to my face. I looked at his Hollister shirt and decided not to dignify him with a response.

However, basketball is great. Fast paced (used to be faster paced and higher scoring) and full of great athletic feats/moves/passes (at least when Magic reigned).
I'm not big on sports, but I watch a b-ball game once in a while and I know other people who do the same.

I'll also add the extreme cockiness some high school football players seem to have. Apparently many of them believe they are running the world.

This is probably an exaggeration, but many of them are screwing cheerleaders, and that must seem pretty cool to them. Plus, some of them will end up running the world, and they know it.
