My bet is the new bad guy and the main girl are twins. Children of Han and Leia. Would keep the stories about family and explain why he would be so strong in the force.

It also occurred to me that they wouldn't have chosen those specific lines spoken by Luke from ROTJ if this movie wasn't going to continue on the narrative about his family and bloodline.

I really want to get into the books because just reading all these Siths (Exar Kun, Plagueis, Revan, etc...) and Jedis and the different levels alone just make it sound so ******* awesome. It's like Lucas didn't bother exploring the other part of this universe when he made his films.
