I’m headed to Florence for just a few days and wanted to spend some time buying a couple of good pieces. I know the market is full of scams so I was hoping to get some advice on what places are worth checking out on RTW goods. I’m looking for a work bag/briefcase ($500 neighborhood), a belt or two (under $100 ideally), mid-range dress shoes (in the $200s if possible), a cardholder wallet, and a leather jacket though I’ve read that Italy isn’t really the place to get these (correct me if I’m wrong).

If my budget is unrealistic for these items, please let me know. Would love to get your recommendations!

On my list right now I have: Scuola del Cuoio, Stefano Bemer (might be out of budget), Mannina, Misuri, Ottino, Saic, Dimitri Villoresi

It isn't inexpensive, but one of the very best shops in Florence and a favorite of mine in Italy is Eredi Chiarini. They range from jeans and sneakers to RTW to bespoke suits. An amazing selection that even if you don't buy anything it will inspire you.

Personally I would avoid leather goods at the open-air stalls. They are often cheap and the quality isn't there. Better that you buy less and buy the best quality you can afford.

Florence has a leather school that has an attached retail store. Try there for quality and value when it comes to any of your leather basics. You have it on your list: Scuola del Cuoio You should do well there.

Ottino.
My briefcase from there is over 30 years old. Still very presentable and
the lock still works! Did not see the exact model on the website. I probably
paid over $300 at the time.

My wife commissioned three items from Scuola del Cuio and she is very happy with them.

Thank you everyone! Got these on the list and will definitely check them out.

On a similar note, I’m interested in getting some ties that won’t cost me hundreds of dollars. Any more budget-friendly (less than $100) I should check out?
