The new Dessau sneakers are fully hand-made in Japan. They're vulcanized at one of Japan's last remaining factories still committed to this process and made from 100% cotton woven in Japan. But it's only when you pick them up, or more importantly put them on your feet, that you'll find what truly sets them apart. Feel that extra heft, that extra cushion. And the bar keeps rising...taped seams, metal eyelets and vents, double stitched stress points, full sponge insoles, reinforced heel and toe cups. A new gold standard for the classic sneaker.

John Lofgren "Short Shift" Engineer Boot in Badalassi Leather

Nobody does engineer boots like John Lofgren, so it was only natural that when we looked at making a modified engineer he was the perfect guy. This is a "short shift" version of an engineer boot, so the shaft has been made shorter for both comfort and to make it easier to wear with a wider range of jean fits. This version also has a slightly less stacked sole/heel, so the boot is slightly lighter in weight and has a shorter break-in period.

We went all out with the leather for this one and had Lofgren source Badalassi's black leather, with a great feel and grain this leather is going to look unbelievable after it has been broken in.

John Lofgren Burgundy Chromexcel Engineer Boots & Champion Sneakers

Fresh from Japan we've just received a large shipment of boots and sneakers from John Lofgren.

First up we have Lofgen's popular engineer boot done in a dark burgundy chromexcel leather. This leather starts as a deep dark shade of burgundy and is sure to age well considering the chromexcel treatment it's gone through.

We've also received a new run of Champion sneakers, available now in three colors. There were only 100 of each color produced and the fabrics used are as special as the sneakers themselves. Many of our longtime clients purchased the first run of Champion sneakers and have been waiting for a new run to be made so we're happy they're finally here.

New here but not to the scene; as part of my new brand, The Rite Stuff, my first product, the Heracles chambray shirt, was made in collaboration with John Lofgren. I had the pleasure of traveling to Sendai, Japan, in February to meet with John and his staff and plan the first of what should be many products together.

The idea is to combine made in Japan quality work and materials with an emphasis on Western body types.

The shirt is made of 5 oz. selvedge chambray, milled in Japan; details include triple chain stitching along main seams, shoulder and back yoke, ventilation holes, reinforced elbows, and painted metal buttons.

I have a pair of Lofgren engineers in brown cxl in size 9.5 with the original box. I need a size 10!

John Lofgren's Made in Japan Champion Sneakers

I have a pair of the persimmon-dyed (light brown color) sneakers which I've been wearing occasionally over the last year and a half. Very light duty use. I like them quite a bit and found them very comfortable which made me consider getting second pair in another color. However, my current pair is already showing premature signs of distress...and I'm wondering whether other folks are having the same problem.

The taped seams are fraying, most significantly at both heels and less so around the eyelets area. It appears that the material used to tape the seams is quite fragile. I can't do much about my current pair but I'm wondering whether the same problem happens with the other colors...I'm mostly thinking about the blue option. It may be a case that different color sneakers use different type of material to tape the seams, and that the persimmon case is particularly weak?

Thanks for all feedback I can get before I decide to buy (or not) a second pair.

@kiya those short shifts ever coming back? I only recently decided I might want a pair of engineer boots, and those are the best I've seen without a doubt.

Also, how do you size Lofgrens? I've seen recommendations anywhere from true to a full size down from Brannock.

We actually didn't switch, we just stopped carrying Lofgren. We've been carrying Flat Head's boots and sneakers for 13 years!
