Ha ha, yeah! I still may. I would love to be their token old guy sales clerk.

J. Crew is popular, even here, because it's often one of the best options available to a large number of people. Sometimes overpriced (okay, often, unless you shop smart), but stylish and adult without being grandpa-y.

One thing I like about SF is that it's all about whatever works for you. We have people who can boast great fits and style with stuff they buy from Target and even K-mart. If you find a brand or brands that work for you, it's all good, right? Within reason... .

+1, No matter which brand, I'm going to have to get any shirt taken in regardless.

This has nothing to do with the clothes (except maybe on a deep subconscious level, but let's not go there) but I love the customer service. Really, the best customer service (phone or internet) bar none.

It's true. I've never had a button-down off the rack that fit perfectly. I get dress shirts tailored, that is, those I'll wear with suits or dress pants. Anything else, the J. Crew secret wash or whatever, I don't bother with because to me it would take away from the "casualness" of the shirt.

You can't buy OTR anywhere with a 12 inch drop -- that puts you well into the thin tail of the distribution. Even those of us with measly 8" drops struggle to find clothes that fit.

Yeah, it always looks like their stuff fits you really well, yet you seem to be skinnier than most of the dudes who say J Crew is too baggy on them. What goes?

Try sizing down to XS. What you're describing is exactly what I went through with their Smalls... needed tailoring in every which direction whereas the XS fits great right out of the box. Unfortunately, they only make a limited amount of their shirting offerings in XS...

I have no idea wmmk, maybe it's the sizes that they get or the sizes that I get? I duno.

I<3Bacon, yeah I need to try on their XS. My only concern would be length and actually being able to find an XS in store lol.

Heh. I have some RL towels which I would guess are part of their RL "home" collection. I never liked RL much either-- something is just missing from the brand. It seems like any larger brand that becomes popular ends up like this-- bland, safe, generic, and nothing special. It's as if they have to stoop to the lowest common denominator in order to sell to a large audience. RL feels this way to me and so does J. Crew. It doesn't mean everything they make is bad, but it is definitely not inspiring stuff.

Sorry if this has been answered before.
Is this all the summer items J. Crew is going to have?
No ribbon belts, summer loafers, or any decent decent beach items. The swimsuits, sandals,... are EXACTLY the same as last year.

I suspect they have temporarily scaled back their new product offerings due to the bad economy. Their current financials show negative growth.
