I tried it once with my brown tweed and had mixed feelings about it.

I dislike many posts on TSB, especially Dan's. But I do dig Townsend's and Alex's personal styles.

I tried on a JCP button-down tattersall shirt in Penney's today. Damn. Spot on for fit, as good as any of my J. Crew washed shirts. Downside--even though the shirt was 100-percent cotton, it felt a bit synthetic. Still... I'm feeling like I want to go back this week and grab it. Especially since full retail on this shirt is only $25.

If you like J. Crew shirts, you might want to check out some of the JCP stuff.

Unfortunately, JCP doesn't make them for men with smaller frames (size XS).

I agree. I find that's true more and more. They really do have a try-too-hard aesthetic.And I'm really tired of the high-water pants look they endorse.

That's too bad. But you're right. The smallest size I saw was an S. Maybe as they grow their customer base, they'll start doing XS.

Anyway, what do you think of the quality, aside from fit?

Already returned it, ha. Hood also had the Barbour label stitching coming off. On top of that, it was made in Bulgaria, not England.

A lot of Barbour is now made in Bulgaria (including the much coveted sports jacket). There's absolutely nothing wrong with it and in fact, I doubt you'll find a Barbour hood made anywhere else.

I see. My Classic Beaufort was made in England, so I assumed the hood to be the same.

No idea. Didn't see an XS online, so decided against a visit to JCP.

Yeah, but, to me at least, the only real polos to get are the vintage or the pique. They're the only ones that are classic versions. The broken-in is a weird bastard child.

I have two knit (black, navy) and one wool striped. They are very good. I always get compliments on the knit ones.

I bought a number of wool ties last year. Very nice and all made in the USA. Got a knit fairisle tie this year and noticed it was made in Italy. Looks identical to the Engineered Garments version, which also is made in Italy, at a much cheaper price.
