Is this sweater too small?

I know one of yous are going to say, "used google"? Yes I have in fact, and I think the sweater I'm going to attach below seems too small on me. The sweater is a Polo Ralph Lauren one with the following details below:

  • Regular Fit: wider at the chest while maintaining a modern silhouette.
  • Size medium has a 66.0 cm body length (front and back), a 42.5 cm shoulder and an 102.9 cm chest.
  • V-neck.
  • Rib-knit armholes.
  • Rib-knit hem.
  • 100% wool.
  • Hand wash or dry clean.
  • Imported.
  • Model is 185 cm and wears a size medium.
  • Style Number: 625305
For your information, I am a size 16 collar, probably a 15.75 really but I go for comfort and because I do the gym I'd rather go a quarter inch too large. I believe I am a 42 chest, maybe even 44. Based on the Ralph Lauren size chart the M is described as being a:

38-40 chest;
15-15.5 collar;
31-34 waist (all in inches of course).

I want to make sure I get the best fit since I do have a X shape figure and the last thing I want is a sweater too large on me. From googling it seems that the seams should be covered up when wearing a sweater, so for instance the shoulder seams should be covered by the sweater. In this case the seams aren't covered which seems to be the default sign for it being too small. What do you guys think; am I getting this right?

I'm going to get the size large and I'll post back to see how it looks in comparison. I felt like when wearing this sweater it seemed off as it seemed like I was stretching it too much when putting it on, but once it's on it looks nice and slim around the waist without it being too tight.

66cm, that's like XS for me. I am 5' 7" and try to stick to that as a maximum.

Concerning the the fit I have no knowledge to give.

it looks to fit well imho : i don't see the knit-in pattern stretching or anything , the length is right , the shoulders are good ( we're talking about a knit vest there is no reason to expect the width to cover the seams of the shirt ) . a nice layer !

if you are concerned with the width at the chest/shoulders you can block out the piece a bit . hand wash and when very wet tug it out to measure while flat on a towel , and then don't touch until totally dry .

Looks good. I think if you sized up to cover the seams the rest of the measurements would be off.

Thank you for your messages. I have went the size up for the sweater and me and my sister are on the agreement that the size large looks better. For starters it feels easier to put on. It's not really a large difference in sizing up anyways, but it feels comfier.
