I ran in a half marathon through downtown Detroit yesterday with a new PR of 1:38:07 which beat my previous PR by more than 2 minutes. I was ecstatic with the time, especially considering that I was not even attempting to go that fast. I figured it would be hard to keep up a good pace in the first organized run of the spring, but I guess keeping up the running over the winter really paid off.

I've got another HM in less than 3 weeks but this one will be much tougher - a trail route with some significant hills.

Congrats on that run! BTW--I checked out your Tumblr and those are some awesome photos. I felt very much aligned to your "why-I-run" post featuring the paczeks, too. :D

20.0 miles on Sunday. My last long training run before the Big Sur marathon later this month. Felt great, although I avoided any steep hills. Now, the tapering begins.

6.5 this morning. Not actually hot, but it sure did feel like it.

Ran four miles, finishing just before midnight. I didn't feel like running in the 86 degree weather in the afternoon.

Walked 5 miles. My hamstring tightened up about a week ago and was causing a lot of discomfort so I decided massage and rest is best

11.4 miles today w/ mile tempo intervals. Last big run, start to taper now.

Hamstring problems are no fun. If rest isn't quite getting it, try some of the dynamic stretches from Wharton's website. They helped me when mine was a bit tweaked in the past.

First run yesterday after a week fighting the flu.... bit over 8 miles in 92 degree temps. Not a great run but got a big race in a couple weeks so need to put these legs back to work.
