Holy wow. One of the perks of doing road races!
I find it very relaxing to finish before everyone and watch the ladies stroll to the finish line

5k (3.1 miles) yesterday. I'm new to running and I'm trying to get to the point where I can run more than twice a week without injuring myself.

I've managed to build up a great running form, but I guess the years of being a hockey goalie are still playing with my knees. Oh well. Maybe barefoot running might help.

3-4 miles a day. Need to crank up the mileage, but time is a precious commodity right now.

5 miles this morning, didn't quite go the normal 5.3 - it was warm and humid and I was tired and drained, so I cut it off a bit early, went home, hit the pool.

Entered my first 10k today. Finished in aproximately 1:02.
It went well, especially considering it is quite a hot day today. I could really see my heart rate was higher because of that. I normally go out running in the evening.

By the way, this run was not too far from my home, so I also rode my bike 15k to the race and back again afterwards

brooklyn half marathon. everything was going great into mile 8...then I tweaked my right knee badly stepping into a porta-potty to take a piss. the knee would just lock up on me. had to make a hard decision to just try to gut it out or quit...

i ran with the pain (it was actually better when i ran... when ever i'd walk it would hurt like hell)... for the last 5 miles. running is the objective word... it was more like waddling to the finish...

13.1 miles in 2:40 (i know its super pathetic but i finished.)

I am going to read the Gordon Pirie book now. I am thinking of doing intervals to improve my speed.

ok after a couple advils, shower, big lunch, and some sleep the knee is all better. at least i know it was just a bad cramp causing it and not an injury.

the whole race was so well organized. two loops around prospect park (with killer hill and all) then 7 miles straight down ocean parkway (actually a major highway/throughway) onto the finish: right on the coney island boardwalk!

I had the mindset that after the two loops in prospect everything would be smooth sailing straight down, but to see 7 miles ahead it was kinda demoralizing...especially after the injury.

finish was at the boardwalk right at the parachute drop!

5 miles, on some tough trails, just under 90 minutes. But most of it was literally at about a 45 degree angle, and I don't mean down either. Some of it was almost hand over hand. I nearly drank creek water I was so beat.

The midfoot strike is working like a charm. Not a hint of a shin splint, no matter how hard I push it.
