You guys are far too kind there are many that post here that are way better dress than me.

I think you are as humble as you're wrong about this. There may be a few that are on par, but I can't think of one poster that's a "way better" dresser. This is all IMHO, YMMV et c.

Maiden voyage of my new Henry Carter tie.

1000

After vacation and some non-suit work events, I have over 1500 posts to catch up on. Someone please provide me with a bullet point summary. thanks.

I was unsure what color shoe to wear with this tie. I have a deep chocolate brown and a walnut. My wife chose the walnut, but I wonder if there is too much contrast between the shades of brown. I am in need of a medium shade brown. Would the medium shade work better, or one of the former?

A question about shoes....

Wear the darker brown. As you are dressed for business, making your shoes the lightest colour would be pretty bold and dandy - they would be the first thing to catch the eye. OK, I do that too, but I'm not sure it's what you were looking for. The darker brown, on the other hand, would be most consonant with both tie and suit, while letting that delicious tie be the centrepiece in a tidy, more conservative manner. A "mid brown" pair of shoes is awesome with a blue suit, but in this ensemble you wouldn't want anything too close to the tie in colour - matching the two looks out of sorts to me, like some kind of uniform.
