Seems to me you're exactly the target demographic for Suit Supply. I've been in there and was fairly impressed with what I saw for the price. I'm in DC too, and there isn't much here in the lower priced end unless you go with a Macy's suit unfortunately. I've been doing MTM (pm me if you want details), but the company I use (I've posted about them recently, so don't want to get accused of shilling) starts at $750 (they do local fittings monthly).

Suit Supply had at least three models that fit me decently - much better than anything at a store I can afford (Isaia and Zegna mainlines fit ok). They have lots of styles and colors, and the guys in the Georgetown store were really helpful and low-pressure. Definitely worth checking out.

I'm in Northern Virginia, too, and have recently purchased suits from the DC Suit Supply after years of wearing Brooks Brothers Fitzgeralds and Regents...with the occasional MTM (I have a suit by VM Clothiers, too). I have a London, Washington, and Napoli and like them very much. In fact, I'm starting to sell off my Brooks Brothers suits on ebay (too bad I'm 40R and you are 42R or I could hook you up). I had a great experience at VM Clothiers by the way, and I had a half-off Gilt City coupon (you might keep your eyes open for one of those).

So maybe Suit Supply for instant gratification, VM Clothiers when your ready for MTM at a reasonable price...and maybe you should think about looking on ebay for one of the BB 1818 models.

Have been lurking a bit since I jointed SF. I'm happy to find a fair number of folks from DC/NoVA here. I have to ask the question about SuitSupply that I've been wanting to but not wanting to ask. Are all their fits on the slimmer side? I'm by now means a big guy but I'm certainly not slim either. Does SuitSupply have a middle of the road but not boxy fit? I read their FAQ but their site is sorely lacking when it comes to explaining their various fits.
