I just bought a Polo blazer, cream linen herringbone, very nice looking. Unfortunately, the sleeves are a bit too long, and they've got functioning buttons on the cuffs.
Would it be possible for the tailor to shorten the sleeves at all, perhaps "fill in" a button hole by reweaving it the same way he would repair a tear? Perhaps shorten it from the shoulder? Are there any options here?
