Anybody know how to freeze it? I've seen it done, in vacuum sealed aluminum containers.. I'm not sure if the containers are specific to caviar, or re-purposed.

Shah, does this just say caviar in Farsi? This is pre-revolutionary caviar.

Pio, I hope you dont mean me. I have used one sock in my entire SF life and that was like 2 years ago in the noble cause of harassing Sho Nuff.

No, don't mean you. Actually, I have no idea who caviarman is. I thought I knew but then he obviously wasn't who I thought he was. I knew this because he gave bad caviar advice.

My only advice on caviar would be to spend your money on something else but while searching for PG pictures of hot brazilian girls to torment Tagut with I came across this picture of a tin of caviar that was given to my mother as a gift and thought one of our Iranian bon vivants might be able to shed a little light on those squigly lines next to the normal writing on the lid.

Thanks. I was hoping for something more exciting like "deluxe exquisite" brand or something but now I know.

the fish actually spells out "death to infidels" if you look at it upside down

This was the pre death to infidels era when the only Iranians you would encounter were all urbane, sophisticated and exquisitely* well mannered. I just recently saw a photo exhibit of discovered pictures from an unknown upper middle class Iranian family circa 1970. Terribly sad to know their way of life went down the toilet.

* Yes, Im aware I have used the word exquisite twice in as many posts, and yes, Im a little uncomfortable with it.

actually this is just indication of the extremist fervor that was boiling up but went ignored due to the perceived threat of leftists and their more vocal opposition at the time, it was all in the tuna for everyone to miss

well, that photo exhibit is not life in iran as perceived by the outside world, but if you roll with me you'd have no idea where you were -- i'm taking raves, massive caspian-side villas filled with delicious nuts and fresh fruits and other delectables, attire you'd find in a euro club, street racing in suped up exotics, gourmet meals a phone call away (i don't know from where but just tell Hassan what you want and *voila*), hot tea and hookahs always waiting at hand, etc. Go on your own or with the BBC and you'll find chador-clad women beating you over the head to board first onto the overcrowded bus headed to rallies where the drooling masses just yell "death to the great satan
