Two exciting acquisitions, and nowhere to flaunt them but here:
Dack's Camel-hide Derby in my size (8), obviously barely worn, just picked them up off Poshmark, super excited to have a chance to wear them:

View attachment 2060419 View attachment 2060421 Dack's Zebu-hide U-Wings. Early '60s I think, and probably resoled. Size 9.5, so not my size, but I couldn't just leave them sitting in that thrift shop. Look at them! I'll resell or trade them (happy to obey forum ettiquette on this, just letme know what that works) View attachment 2060417 . View attachment 2060411 View attachment 2060413 View attachment 2060415
The Cambridge Zebus are 100% resoled, almost certainly at the factory. They have replaced sock-liners as well. That is some of the nicest camel leather I have seen on the other pair.

Friends, it's been a long time since I've been able to do much more than lurk around here but was able to get 50 pairs of shoes photographed over the last 2 weekends. I've lots of interesting and beautiful Canadian-made shoes to share with the thread.

The first pair is some boots that ended up in my cart on my 'Big Day' at a local thrift store last month.

Here's everything I grabbed (and i went back to add a couple more things the next day that I had to think a bit about):

While you'll have to wait for future posts in different threads for descriptions of all the items, this post will feature the pair of boots towards the bottom left.

I'm not sure who the maker (H.H. Brown maybe?) is but I'm absolutely smitten by them.

Thanks! I have a pair of brown bullhide Moorby boots (model 2802) by Canada West and the pair pictured above is much sleeker - especially around the toe.

I like the other pair, and wear them around the ranch, but the toe on them always seemed much too bulbous.

Yes - true! I also have Moorby boots...very different style (more like a Munson last service boot). These ones were sold I think as a "roper" boot(?) Almost like a lace-up cowboy boot!

Recently found my first pair of the Iconic Zebu U-wing oxford. These were very dirty on the thrift store shelf but have remarkably little wear. Dack's always run a bit small on me so these 695s (9.5E) are a really good fit.

Out and about:

Not 'Golden Harvest' but these are the lightest shade of McHale imperials that I've found. Unfortunately the fully nailed leather heel is past due for replacement (found them like this) but good enough condition for a day where I'm at my desk 90% of the time.

Back at the store that I found a pair of 1950s Ventilated shoes other day and my luck is still there. A pair of John Mchale Bombers fit like a glove. Not in great condition but with just a little cleaning and polishing they look quite nice on feet.

Great find! Slight correction...the Bombers (aka Balmers or Vikings) are the straight captoe McHales. These short wings (aka gunboats) that you bought are - in my opinion - nicer shoes (I say this as someone who owns both!)

Here are my Balmers:

Damn that looks like my kitchen :) the short wings were simply called "The Brogues". "Bomber" was the name of the last, both the Brogues and the Vikings were made on the Bomber last.

Today's pick. Almost pristine Florsheim (McHale??) made in Canada. For the leather I would guess camel.
