Losing to Panama was very disappointing as someone mentioned earlier, nothing less than a berth in the final would be a disappointment. Our defense seems lost. I understand that Panama was committing many players forward but we should still be able to handle that, especially the caliber of team that we have. It appears to me that our midfield is almost non existent and we are settling for back passes with our defenders doing too much of the distributing. All in all it just seems that there is something 'off' about the team, especially from some of Clint Dempsey's comments and Tim Howard's play. Hopefully we can get things figured out in the future. USA!

Good job to the USMNT yesterday; IMHO they looked much better against Jamaica than they have all tournament.

There was a good write-up of the game on Zonal Marking also.

They looked to attack from the beginning and actually seemed interested. I'd say none of the previous games did they seem to have such a sense of urgency to win, and the only sustained attack-rich game was against Guadeloupe. Granted yesterday was a knockout game, and the previous ones were essentially for show. They had a decent half here or there, but not to the level of yesterday especially once they started to go over the top when Jamaica had to push forward. The dive which drew the red card disappointed me greatly. Was the card worth giving up a break-away opportunity? For me, it isn't nearly.

I remain unconvinced that it was a dive, if for no other reason than that the Jamaican player who committed the foul did not protest at all. If Jones had really taken a dive, wouldn't the Jamaican player who committed the foul have been protesting up and down the field, not meekly walking to the sideline without saying a word?

I thought that was odd too, but on the replay it didn't look as though their legs touched at all. In full speed it definitely looked like the Jamaican took him down. On the replay though, he (Jones I believe) was a step clear then it seemed like he stopped mid stride to fall. The fall was so removed from where the contact could've occurred on replay that it looked like a dive.

Loss of Cherundolo was a real blow. I don't know why Bob Bradley brought on Jonathan Bornstein instead of Jonathan Spector; neither of them are as good as Cherundolo, but Spector is the lesser of two evils. Bornstein, not surprisingly, having a mare - he should never play for the US again (but I've been saying this for years, and Bradley has yet to listen to me).

Ugh... I really don't want to come off as racist or anything like that, but it really disturbs me that a "home" game in LA has more Mexican fans turning out than those for the USA. And what's more, this rivalry just makes me angry every time I watch a run-in between the US and MX. Just cheap shots going everywhere, no flow to the game, and it looks to me like it's all Mexico's doing every time.

I mean, seriously... pouring urine on Donovan as he walks out of the tunnel at the Azteca to shouts of "I just *********** mom!"? Way to stay classy, Mexico.

My wife is Mexican, and therefore my daughter 1/2. But WTF?!

(then again I could just be looking for excuses as to why the US sucked it up this tournament...)

Terrible passes all over the pitch killed the US today. Defenders giving away the ball in the box, midfielders booting the ball too far downfield instead of making smarter square balls, and strikers not executing that well either.

Then again, I only was able to catch the second half so I seem to have missed the best play.

if you know the history of Donovan he asks for this treatment from mexican fans. for the rest of it conisidering the popularity of football in general in the us why do you think it is odd that there are more mexican fans in the stadiums?
