Clarks Desert Boots... Which color?

Just got a pair of desert boots and I'm wondering what my options are in terms of taking them to a cobbler - if any. I'm worried about the bottoms getting disguistingly dirty.

Someone here got the crepe sole succesfully replaced with leather. I think you're overly concerned though, unless you're Kanye West you're shoes will look fine with dirty soles. Besides, after a little while the whole sole just starts to get darker, it looks pretty even on my pair.

just picked up my first pair of desert boots yesterday. would have liked grey but they had them in sand which is close enough. very comfy. I'm going to try them out with my red-wing insoles and see how they feel.
