Bottled water

I have been observing the appearance of several brands of premium bottled water in the market lately, and although I eventually buy a bottle or two, was wondering if there really is a market out there for it, I guess it primarily serves as a status symbol as very very few people can distinguish an average water from a premium one. So, what do you guys think?

Different waters do taste different to me, but the concept of one being premium and the other not is totally alien.

Water from Fiji tastes different to water from Evian sur les bains, but one being better than the other? That's just personal preference.

Bling H2O is a bottle of water which costs £30. It is difficult to argue that it's anything other than a sick joke.

Paying premium money for water is really, really stupid. Especially when many are simply municipally-sourced tap water in the first place.

My personal favorite is Mountain Valley Spring Water

Apollinaris for mineral water.

I'm not sure as far as price levels to make it "premium". I do enjoy Panna at nice restaurants for some reason.

I believe that Dasani is tasty because it includes "mineral packets" that were developed by Coke in order to make the water have a distinct flavor and some health value (besides the obvious value of drinking water). Therefore, it is not psychological. Coke made a specific attempt to make a good tasting water.

I only know this because i just read a case study about this at school. (Case study is called "Cola Wars")

i like fiji too, although those bottles broke the cup holder in my car. but normally i just drink tap at home. i drink way too much water to afford bottled, plus i dont mind the taste. i usually just use the fiji for friends, overnight visitors, and car trips.

I know some Scotch drinkers recommend using bottled spring water from Scotland with your single malt. I guess it makes sense, though I'm not sure I could tell the difference. At this point I wouldn't pay the premium.

Weird; I think Dasani is terrible. I prefer Aquafina, and people tell me I'm crazy as it is apparently just filtered tap water. Given a choice between the two, I go the latter every time.

I like how some restaurants replenish your premium water on the sly, especially if you're dining with a group...next thing you know you have a $100+ water tab.

I make a point of asking for tap water in restaurants because of this.
