Where the hell do you find NC BBQ in Georgia? All I've ever found in Atlanta is the crappy tomato based pulled crap.

1. Eastern NC
2. Western NC
3. Memphis (prefer the ribs over pulled)

Texas dry style is best for everyday.

KC style is best for upscale use

Carolina is best used occasionally lest it lose its punch

Memphis is best left ignored unless you are going to the restaurant strapped and/or want to get shot while eating.

Athens. Admittedly, I haven't tried all the local places, so there's a possibility that the vinegar-based stuff isn't ubiquitous. However, the reason I haven't tried all of the places is because I got tired of finding the Carolina BBQ. I don't know why we'd be so much different than Atlanta, though. Maybe because we're farther east?

I would love to find some tomato-based pulled crap! I'm headed to Atlanta today, any recommendations?

Fat Matt's on Piedmont is decent. Fox Bros on Decatur Ave is OK, Texas style if you like that. I wasn't all that impressed by Daddy D'z, so I wouldn't recommend a trip into the ghetto for it.

This thread has made me want some BBQ so I think I'm going to try Wyatt's Diner for lunch. I have not been before, but I've been to Ann's Snack Bar across the street a couple of times for the Ghetto Burger.

Thanks for the info! I'm in Atlanta quite a bit, and will be living there soon if some of the jobs I'm looking at work out, so I will definitely be checking those places out. That burger looks AMAZING. I'm hungry already.

I love it all. KC, Texas, Memphis are my top three, but don't discriminate too heavily between styles as long as it's prepared well.

I lived in KC for a while and it is a GREAT barbecue town. If you ever get to KC in the fall when the American Royal barbecue contest is going on, be sure to check it out. You can buy samples from the competitors. Then prepare for the meat coma. It's awesome.

Texas, of course. For the record, grilling is not the same as BBQ. Korean does not qualify as BBQ.
