Tips for matching brown belt with black shoes?

Buy a black belt, or brown shoes.

Thanks for that nugget. I've seen it done well before by neutralizing the contrast with other pieces. Just looking for any guidelines. Black belts just really bore me.

Texture. Yesterday I wore some slightly beat-up black suede boots, old and faded (but unwashed) jeans, a white OCBD, and a brown distressed leather belt. The textures of the jeans, shoes, and belt were all very similar, and I thought it looked pretty good. I think the color really isn't that important for a SW&D fit - there are a lot of other elements at play.

I think the texture of suede boots are the key in this case. I could swear I've seen NOBD do brown belt with black suede shoes in an MCish fit. If the textures are right, belt is sufficiently dark and doesn't show too much, light top, muted bottom, and it shouldn't be an instant eyesore.

Looks like people here are against it... I just want to break the rules and still be winning
