I figure that there has been several threads on the quality of Saks (or other high-end department store like NM) private label shirts or sweaters, but has not seen much in regards to overcoat.

Yesterday, I went to Off Saks 5th and ran into their black label?? cashmere overcoat in every colour, balck, charcoal, navy, and camel. Single breasted, notched lapel, knee length (38~40 inch) and slightly trim cut. Can't remember where it was made.

With 40% off the lowest price, it came down to $420 or so. Since I didn't know much about cashmere coat in general and wasn't confident on the fit with my suit jacket on, I ended up not picking it up. Instead, I bought their private label wool overcoat with loro piana fabric for $200 (less risky I guess?), which some forum members have seemed to like.

But for the future reference, does anyone have experience with this cashmere coat? Is it a pretty good deal at ~$400 quality wise?

Was it the ones that are a wool/cash blend? They had racks and racks of them? I feel like Ive seen those for every winter in a row the past few years and they are just kind of blah. I tried them on once, it was OK, but nothing at all to write home about. I remember them getting to $199 or so in Jan/Feb.
