It has been said, "Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist". That said, I'm wondering if it would be artistic or complete lawlessness to wear black shell Carlyle's with a tux? I simply loathe patent leather, not so much for its plastic appearance but more so for how it looks as soon as it's creased. How patent leather made it into generally accepted formality is beyond me. Also, I have no confidence in opera pumps or shoes with large grossgrain bows. I don't foresee I'll ever be in the situation of offending a crown prince anytime soon. Have I answered my own question, or is this a serious fashion faux pas?

On the other hand, some people like black patent leather opera pumps with grosgrain bows, in this case the A-E Ritz.

No matter what shoes you wear, you're still going to have to sit around bored out of your mind wondering why it always takes her so long to get dressed when you've been ready for over an hour.

Go ahead and wear your black shell Carlyles with your dinner jacket.

Did anyone ever figure out if anything was happening with the University U-wing? I thought that was supposed to be coming back. I need another walnut shoe and that one would really fit the bill.

These are my Nomads I picked up in early February - these are tan leather but they are also offering a light sand suede and navy suede. And the soles are white

I'm buying these in a few weeks for sure.

Yes. Kristen was instrumental in getting everything that I wanted. Including the black lining. There isn't any current model using that lining.

I was a bit concerned about the light tan lining showing through around the bottom of the eye stays. so we thought the dark brown lining on the Independence Line would be the darkest possible. It was the least of things on my wish list. She put down dark brown Indy on the order, but included a note that if black was possible, thats what I really wanted. Its possible the leather they used was from a discontinued model or a sample they had lying around that was never used.
She is the best. Those are really cool, and you are lucky you got them done before the news of this week!

They were making them back in August or September last year. I remember my SA at the outlet mentioning that they were showing up in the inventory (but I don’t think that they were allowed to put them in the store.) I’ve been waiting to see when they’d bring them out. I really thought that it would have been Christmas time.

Would this extremely close channel stitching at the bottom right of this picture affect the ability to recraft this bologna constructed shoe when its time for a resole?

I would ask my local sales associate, but Ive come to notice that people here know alot more about shoe construction and lasts than any of the AE sales associates Ive spoken to before.

It won’t bother your cobbler as long as he has an “insole stitcher”.

Top 20 selling AE shoes from 2005 era.

How does this list stand up to forum members interests? How many of these do you own or the current very near equivalent.

Well, Park Ave of course...Then I needed to see more pictures so I took a drive all the way back to 1959, wow - those old ads are certainly something! Lots of timeless styles, shark, Cordoba and bal wingtips in a variety of lasts...the good o'l days for sure.
