I like Byron. Good guy.

I've had good experiences with Dan, Alex and Byron. However, Byron doesn't seem to be there most of the time when I go on Saturdays, so I rarely see him. I've also once been helped by Nick(?), who also seemed nice.

Oh, and the store was packed this weekend. Busiest I've ever seen it.

I would love to find some shell in either color. The hunt continues.

I thought the left wing looked fine to me. The creasing is typical for a pair of shoes that have been tried on and walked on carpet. They would look the exact same way after you try them on. However, they will also look that way 6 months from now after use. Shell is remarkably resilient. The bidding starts at $399, but it will not end there.

It looks like the stitching is coming undone or there's excess thread or something, right at the tip of the wing. No?

Got these Saratogas off eBay for $30 shipped. Unbelievable shape and you can easily tell that the leather used on these shoes are a notch up from what they use now. Little unsure of the fit (slightly short), but for that price I at least don't care about using them as a test pair for this last.

Was at the Los Angeles store yesterday (quite an awesome day which I will go into more detail later), and the store manager pointed out that he had the same heel slip problem with his Clark's. He showed me if I tie them like this at the top, it will stop the slippage. It works! No more heel slip at all, and the shoes feel perfect.

Posts like the one by @MattRiv get me interested in trying a vintage pair, such as these teak MacNeils that are currently on eBay (although I'll wait for a pair that's closer to $30 than $300).
