Was looking for someone who actually owns them to comment on the Northland mocs - after BITJ raved about the Kirkwood so long last year and picked up like 12 pairs I reluctantly got one myself and despite it being the lesser ae by AE line, it's miles above any of the drivers I own. Trouble is the sole is not only bright white, it's soft as hell. The Northland looked like it might improve on everything I didn't like about the Kirkwood - I'm in the minority but I actually like the look and feel of the chromepak, its sort of waxy but grainy. Sole isn't white, and it's also much more rigid. But since the B&M stores have to be super efficient and only carry sizes between 9 & 10 I haven't tried one. I'm concerned they'll fit overly large and I'll look like I'm going out (in denim, khakis, etc.) wearing a pair of sandmans or something like that. Thanks in advance.
I have the Northlands and I went down .5 from my Brannock size. So they fit large.

They have a nice sleek look IMO. Look really good with tapered denim sans sox. The sole is a lot harder than the Kirkwood one. It is a hard rubber sole with specks.

The chromepac is horween so it is high quality leather. I think that Horween treats it with a lot of oils etc. So, you just need to brush it for dust. It kinda lightens up at crease points too, which I like. Smells great too. The leather is so thick that I don't think it will expand as much as CXL. I have no experience with chromepac but I think it's gonna look great with age.

I may be the first to have received the blue strands, I know I was one of the first to order them, ordering minutes after the email came out on these early that Sunday morn. Nonetheless, they arrived today, and here are some pics. Some pics with flash and some without. It's easy to tell the difference. The blue is very subtle. I think these will be great with some grey flannels.

The story of those shoes will be told after a few brushings and some wear.

And it is going to be an awesome story...

@coolarrowAppreciate the feedback, will probably see how they work for me.

@richieP I did look at those others when they were current. They looked too "generic" if you know what I mean, like a really plain English tan loafer from any brand. Coupled with the fact that- 1) the 555 is pretty unpredictable in terms of sizing, and 2) the sole is actually much thinner and more flexible than it looks, decided to pass on these. Thanks though, seems like a good alternative.

Nice!  I didn't realize Dainite soles were an option...bugger.

It wasn't, made a couple emails/calls and for what I was told the only pair.

Both of those look great! Funny, I initially thought of suede as a late fall-winter option. Basically cold and dry only. My tan Amoks helped me break out of this. Now, I love all my suede variants, regardless of the color, year round - but especially spring and summer time.

I've long held the same view on suede (fall/winter footwear), but with the amount of rain we've had over the past couple months, the Dainite on the Strands has been very useful (the nano protector too, for that matter). I like the Cavanaughs, but I realized Monday that I think their best use will be with gray flannels in the fall/winter, so I probably won't wear them much for the next couple months.

I ordered mine at about 3am eastern when I was expecting the site to be updated. Mine are 9E though so perhaps D made it out faster or its just taking longer to ship to me. They look great though, definitely can be worn with navy, khaki, grey slacks or chinos. Still not sure how well they would pair with jeans though. Going to be watching for the delivery man!

I have been traveling quite a bit lately and haven't been able to participate. But I am back and I can contribute to Walnut Wednesday with my McAllisters

Just got an email about the Broadstreet for $279- really like that walnut/bone version, but having just received the Cavanaughs (and with the Cornwallis and 1776 incoming), I would have a very hard time justifying it lol. They look great though.

Did AE send you a shipping notification/tracking, or did they just show up?

Edit: nevermind! Just saw an email from yesterday that mine will be in on Friday!
