While I'm at, more from Paramus. Merlot Jeffersons with Dainite soles. I didn't like something about the way these fit. I think it was because the bottom of the sole is a bit convex curved. They fit fine lengthwise, and I got full closure on the lacing, but they seemed small.

Anyway, I prefer leather soles on these, and it seems weird to pay the Independence uncharge for non-Independence soles.

Ah, the good ole 5 last. They look a little tight. My advice on the 5 last is to try your brannock size, up a width, up a size, and up a width/down a size. Since you're a 10.5D you should try a 10.5D, 10.5E, 11D, and 10E. Pick whichever one feels best. Better a little tight than a lot loose IMO. If your toes are getting pinched you may have to do some spot stretching using a shoe stretcher with the pressure point attachments. And if you have high arches, it's unlikely the laces will close regardless of how big/wide you go.
thanks for the input! actually when i went to the store, i had tried 10.5D, 11D, and 10.5E. the 10.5D in the fifth avenues fit the best, and i thought it would be the same for strands because they are on the same last. was just surprised that it seemed the strands where a bit tighter.
But i left my shoe trees in them overnight and it seems to have helped with the fit.

The 5A look fine, but the Strands look like they aren't even the same size. You should be able to reduce the v-gap some after they break in... maybe 1/4-1/2".
thanks for the help! i'm new to posting on the forum, but love the help that the community is able to extend to a first timer! :D

So for those of you that are ordering the "Midnight blue" limited edition versions. Which have you chosen and how do to plan to pair them up when wearing them. I've started to hit the place order several times as I have been waiting for something like this but I'm trying to determine how often I'll actually be able to wear them.

I went with the Strand. Cornwallis felt like a "suit shoe" and I just don't wear suits all that often.

My immediate thought regarding matching stuff is grey pants, but I plan to wear them with all my non-navy pants. And maybe the navy pants too. I don't have a navy belt so I'm pretty much going to be totally winging it. If a navy jacket is versatile, then navy shoes oughta be versatile too, right?

It's not like #menswear is going to approach me on the street and chastise me anyway.

Could one pull off a merlot belt with the oxbloods?

Yes. FWIW I wear my dark chili belt with Oxbloods and find that it matches nicely.

You may also want to try different lacing. My 5 last AEs seem more comfortable and appear to have a smaller v-gap when I use something other than bar lacing.
