Not sure I agree. Italy and Greece are always tedious to watch, but there's a lot on the line for the Italians against Uruguay. And Greece may get spanked by Cote d'Ivoire, which would be entertaining. Japan has been dire but Colombia has been excellent. Costa Rica has also been nice to watch and England are playing a young line-up, so we may see a more open match.

Spot on. Most of the teams on the field are teams I've greatly enjoyed watching. Maybe they're snoozefests if you're the type of fan who can't enjoy a match where you're not invested in the outcome.

I agree, though, that Japan has been utter torture on the senses thus far

This referee is especially awful. A red for what? There have been dozens of plays equal if not worse than that.

Also LOL @ that yellow card for Uruguay at the start of the half.

Get rid of this dolt.

that was pretty reckless ... studs up right into his leg near the knee. no need to do something like esp right in front of the ref

If Uruguay don't win, they have no one to blame but themselves. They were gifted that red card on Marchisio...

Sure, but it's no red and from his angle he just touches his calf. This referee could've decided the game with some heavy-handed officiating.

Sounds awful, but I kinda wanna see Buffon box the ball back at Suarez so it knocks his two front teeth out.

Studs up, don't think that was the case. He looks to me like he is going over the ball to turn direction or at least block.

Cannot watch anymore, disgraceful decision.

The reffing has been bad in this tournament, but I can understand the referee's decision on Marchisio. The challenge looked like a dangerous one at full speed, even if there was no force in it and no chance of injuring the Uruguay player. Basically, it was a bad call but not a baffling one.
