I think I'm probably proportioned somewhat like Kyle, but a bit bigger/taller overall? 50r coat with 32 pant taken in ~1" at waist.

For whatever reason, people on SF have speculated about my build in completely different and humorous ways over the years. At the risk of coming off really douchey, I posted some shots of me from a summer vacation not too long ago in jefferyd's shoulder expression thread. It was in reference to that within a discussion about body type and shoulder styles. I've heard "stick thin," "v shaped torso," "shallow chest" and other weird and conflicting comments.

I thought you were one of those guys for whom everything fits and looks great on you. You and Frank C, and a few others.

I'm one of those guys who has a hell of a time fitting into anything OTR. NMWA-wise, Rota pents, ok, but could use some tweaking here and there. Inglese, not bad, but pretty wide neck (I subsequently found a machine wash and warm tumble dry helped that along a bit). Niche, Mazz, and ts(s) shirts all a bit blousy through the body, and being on the short-ish side, wearing untucked is often not an option w/o looking like a dbag. Schneider shirts, between sizes. Formosa I'm still trying to work out the kinks on, suffice it to say I'm not one of those guys who just put one on and fits perfectly off the peg. Forum favorite Buttero is one of my most abject failures: tried 2 sizes, 3 pairs total, before I realized they don't and never will fit (am I the only one? Seems that way). Really pissed because they're otherwise awsm. Outerwear, sleeves are always an issue, again due to my somewhat diminished stature (@sugarbutch do you hear me knockin?)

My best fit is an item somewhat off the radar here: the Camoshita poplin shirt, which fits me like mto, sleeves included (!). The only thing I'd change is to lengthen the collar points a bit. Will NMWA carry any more of these, in a variety of patterns and fabrics?

Now that you know a little bit about me and my (mis)fits, I just want to close by saying how much I hate all you thumbs-coveting muthafukkers with your perfectly fitting NMWA swag, looking like a baus right off the rack. I hate you and I'm jelly. Well, I don't really hate you, mostly just jelly. Ok, maybe a little hate. :foo:

I can get pretty good RTW results with suits, sport coats, and pants after considerable alterations. Shirts are typically a MTM only proposition. Casual shirts in particular are not easy. To fit my chest, the neck and body are often way too big; if these three parameters are good, the length is usually too short in the body and sleeves. The Niche shirt size L I bought in the last NMWA sale, e.g., was comically tight in the chest and short in length. Works out for my bro-in-law, tough, who'll be getting a better than usual Christmas gift.

Thanks, guys. Actually, I'm not talking about length/ aesthetic considerations here, more about comfort and ease of movement. The armholes are rather high making it very restrictive @ underarms, and also feels a bit tight across back. tchoy suggested that lowering the armhole is not that extensive an operation for a skilled tailor, and he might also have mentioned that the same alteration could possibly ease tightness across the back. Can the back be let out slightly as well if needed? It feels like there's about 1" overlap at the center seam. I don't want to fuq these jackets up with too much messing about, though I do have a skilled tailor in mind (@europrep)

You can easily take them out in the back which should give you more room in the back, not so sure about lowering thr armholes though. I would suggest with taking the back out first and see how it feels before you do anything else. Best is to consult with a competent tailor to see what he may recommend.
