In Fed's younger days, he was a notorious hot-head/racket thrower/chair berater... he's got lots and lots of passion for the game, but he got much better when he managed to outwardly suppress it. Sucks though, I'm rooting for him to win 2 more (1 french) to take over the title of best ever. Then Nadal can take over and see what he can do. Nadal is a helluva player, no doubt.

+1 on that.

Agree. We can thank Nadal in no small part for that, so this is good for pushing Fed, and great for the game too.

I actually don't want Roger to win any more... perhaps just one more. I do think he's already the greatest ever, but I like it that someone else has more titles so that there can be an active debate. Although I still think maybe there's an argument for Borg, even if Roger wins 1-2 more, particularly the French.

The Nadal-Fed matches are instant classics every time for sure though, and their rivalry and the way they play tennis is great for the game, no doubt. I see Nadal getting better against him, though, and unless Roger comes up with more answers, he may never get past him.

How can there possibly be an argument for Borg when men's tennis was about as deep as a 2 inch puddle?

Well, back up after that incredible match. I love Nadal because of his toughness. I remember his first (could be second, but pretty sure it was his first) French Open when he was playing Sebastian Grosjean and line judges made some controversial calls against Grosjean and the crowd went nuts. They were booing Nadal and there was a rain delay and even though Nadal was only 18 or 19 he totally kept his composure and beat the hometown favorite. Ever since I saw that I knew Nadal would be around for a while.

Just saw the tape-delay.

Wowee-wow-wee-wow!

Rafa is one of my favorite athletes currently playing.

great match, I still hate Federer and the result was a bonus. I thougth Federer was going to kick it another gear but he had a complete mental breakdown in the 5th

i would love to see him stop at 13 and never tie Sampras

Why the schadenfreude for Rodger?

I think him not winning another is pretty impossible. Even in his worst year he still one a US open with dropping like what, a set?

He should have won this match. He threw away the 3rd set, he could have had it. His own stupidity. He needs a coach again, but he's so stubborn. Crying after losing is really pathetic, I can't believe he cried again. He always steals Rafa's thunder. The point is that Rafa won, not that Federer lost. I cannot believe he cried again.

i've never liked Federer. No reason other than just one of those irrational gut reactions of "i dont like him". it's part his face (that smug grin bugs me), his game (i only cheer 2 handed backhands) and other irrational intangibles **and for the same reasons I didnt like Sampras, tho the first time I ever heard about him, he was a top junior player and had a 2 handed backhand

I hated Sampras too.

My new fav player is Tsonga. Always prefered one handed backhands though, more finesse and manly.

I do like Federer a lot, but lately I've been extremely put off by his arrogance. You can get away with it when you're playing like the best of all time, which he was for a very long time, but when you start losing, don't keep up that behavior.
