AE and AF tees with jeans or shorts seem to be the standard uniform in the land of Lululemon and Yoga.

This is what everybody wears in every city in the United States (and apparently Canada), but it doesn't mean there's nothing to thrift. It's not like the "uniform" in Dallas or Minneapolis is Charvet and Canali, but the people who live there and post in this thread are still finding things. It's all about your knowledge and the amount of work you put in.

the marshalls near me only ever has donald trump or penguin ties.

I saw some black fleece ones the other day. Purple with black stripes, IIRC. Ugly as sin and 4 inches wide. Nicely made, but even with the understanding I'd probably be able to flip them, I couldn't bear the thought of personally unleashing such atrocities on the world. A few PRL options too, and I've seen Versace (don't get too impressed- still $70, and both were tacky), Vineyard Vines, and other well regarded makers. Plenty of Brooks rejects as well, but the better makers are still priced fairly high (well, for an outlet store), while I've been spoiled by plenty of great thrift store ties.

Oh, I've also seen an Ed Hardy tie. Sat there for a few months, but somebody finally bought it for $15, probably as a gag gift.

That's true, it's all about patience and perseverance, with a bit of luck sprinkle on top. Knowing the neighbourhoods definitely helps too. I used to live in a city with a lot more retirees, and I'd find something good from time to time. No such luck in Vancouver so far.

My best find in Vancouver was a classic Burberry trench coat with lining, way past my knees, which I adore.

For real? I just know that a pair of sweat pants sell for north of $100 because it was made with some absurd materials (like seaweed, or granola, or some other ****, I don't know). Nataku, care to elaborate?

I'm not Nataku but I can vouch for the Lululemon flippability, they sell like hotcakes. Which reminds me, there is fake Lululemon out there - I've passed on two pieces in the past few months with a pretty poorly done fake LL logo.

Agree, it's a bit too much shirt cuffs. Is that more than an inch? I personally prefer half to 3/4 inches showing. The tie knot could be a bit tighter, look to Spoo for inspiration.
Overall I really like your look, very dapper and nicely done

it might just be the picture I go for a pretty tight double four in hand. the sleeve showing is about 1 1/4 I want to genthen them by at least 1/2 and inch-3/4 but they are functional cuffs how does one do that?

honestly favorite haul in a while nothing is super unattainable grail level but most of the stuff you got is staple material and it looks like most of it fits you!

Thanks, fellas. I was wondering when I was going to run into something in my size that I would want to keep. I remember a few years ago needing a new suit on very short notice for an interview, and I purchased it from Saks at full retail - if only I had known.
