I have seen in the past, on the BB website, that some of the questions sections will have questions specifically asking if a shoe was made by Alden and the rep from BB answered affirmatively. Perhaps you can email BB customer service or submit a question on the BB website so that you can show him who makes the shoe.

Yeah, the suede cap toe blucher is like that, and I pointed that out. I'll submit a question to the BB site and see if they'll confirm the manufacturer.

Just fyi, I've listed shoes like this before, and I generally put both names in the auction and state in the auction that the shoes were manufactured for BB by Alden.

Ha, if anyone would know, you would SFTG. You have essentially every shell Alden for BB model, if I recall.

he is incorrect indeed, but there is no point fighting it. ebay, sadly in this case, will side with the buyer.

i heard alden dropped blackbird because they weren't paying their bills. i also know they ditched their store in the middle of the night recently because they were multiple months behind on their rent.

please tell me more, i live up the street from blackbird. i once asked about why they were no longer carrying Alden's and the SA told me that long lead times were hard for them, and hinted that Alden favored larger clients (J Crew?) and were leaving smaller shops in the dark. it's a shame because they had some solid make ups. i don't doubt your story though, i get a weird vibe from the blackbird crew.

Having email confirmation from Alden that they indeed make said models would, I hope, convince ebay to side with the seller.

But note: The questions section for many of BB's shoes have misguided information. And most BB employees are clueless when it comes to their shoe offerings. I once had a rather comical conversation with a BB employee who tried to convince me their Black Fleece black shell LWB model ( no longer offered) was made in England.
