Sorry for the crappy iPhone pic, but I wanted to document the maiden voyage of my ravello PTBs. Indoor only for now to break in the sole a bit. They are a little darker in person than in the picture.

Better question... or poll
If you could have 10 aldens that got you thru all four seasons... that you would kep for a while. What would they be?

I'm a bit of an anomaly on this forum as I prefer loafers and don't wear boots (GASP!)

To be honest I would be fine with only these 3:
color 8 lhs
color 8 lwb
color 8 ptb (unlined on flex sole)

But to make a full week's rotation I would add:
cigar lwb
ravello lhs

and then I'd expand with:
snuff suede lhs
whiskey lwb
cigar ptb
tan suede ptb
color 8 nst (or perhaps another pair of color 8 lhs - these are by far my favorite Aldens)

In reality I am gradually making my way down this list - cigar PTBs are next :)

you should consider both tassels and full straps to round out your loafer wardrobe

Mac, it is nice to see you back and posting on the forum. I am sure I speak for many by saying you bring civility and a gentlemanly quality to the forum which is missed when you are not around.

Thanks Mac-
I have not been lucky in finding a good fit on the aberdeen last so I have been reluctant to go with the full straps or the tassels. Plus my lovely wife has threatened me with great bodily harm if I ever attempt to wear tassels - she absolutely despises them (mostly because her father wears them).

the aberdeen last is the most difficult last that alden uses. if it does not work for you then you have good reason to avoid the tassel

I love the tassel but struggle with the Aberdden -- perhaps someday we shall see a shell tassel on another last.
